FIRST LEGOŽ League

FIRST LEGO League (FLL) was established in 1998 in a partnership between the LEGO Group and the USA-based organisation FIRST. It is an international robotics team competition for children aged from about 9 to 16. Today FLL tournaments take place in more than 40 countries worldwide with participation of over 10,000 teams. The competition has two parts: a robot game and a project.

In the robot game teams design, build, program, and test autonomous robots that must perform a series of tasks, or missions. In the project, teams conduct research and create a technological or engineering solution to an aspect of the challenge and present that solution.
World Robot Olympiad

World Robot Olympiad is a counterpart to FLL and caters to robotics fans primarily in Asia and the Middle East. However, in recent years countries like Denmark, Norway and Sweden have also joined, and more European and Latin American countries are expected in the near future.

WRO was established in 2004 by educators from the China Association of Science and Technology, Singapore Science Center, Pohang University in Korea, Kanagawa Institute of Technology in Japan in cooperation with LEGO Education partners in the four founding countries. In the first year more than 4,400 teams from 13 different countries participated. Today, WRO has been launched in 20 countries throughout the region, and more than 8.000 teams took part in the 2007 challenge.

The competition has two different categories; Regular and Open Category. Teams may register in their appropriate age group; Primary, Junior High or High School.

Annual Challenge Launched each September

Each September the annual challenge is presented. It is based on a set of real-world problems facing scientists today. After eight weeks the FLL season culminates at high energy, sports-like tournaments.
